Sauntering Vaguely Downwards

i've got a bad feeling about this

1.5 million more Americans would have jobs if not for Washington’s decision to pursue deficit reduction in the midst of a sluggish economy.

Unfortunately, news of successful deficit reduction is unlikely to result in any respite from new cuts or tax increases. The Obama administration still has its Social Security cuts on the table — as part of a potential “grand bargain” — and Congressional Republicans are gearing up to demand still more spending cuts in exchange for raising the debt ceiling.

Congress has tackled the deficit — at the cost of the economy (via wilwheaton)

“Here are some broad descriptions about the generation known as Millennials: They’re narcissistic. They’re lazy. They’re coddled. They’re even a bit delusional.
Those aren’t just unfounded negative stereotypes about 80 million Americans born roughly between 1980 and 2000. They’re backed up by a decade of sociological research. The National Institutes of Health found that for people in their 20s, Narcissistic Personality Disorder is three times as high than the generation that’s 65 or older. In 1992, 80 percent of people under 23 wanted to one day have a job with greater responsibility; ten years later, 60 percent did. Millennials received so many participation trophies growing up that 40 percent of them think they should be promoted every two years – regardless of performance. They’re so hopeful about the future you might think they hadn’t heard of something called the Great Recession.”
The Me Generation

Well, they’re right about the “save us all” part, anyway.

You all need to eat some shit.
The few of us lucky enough to be able to go home are doing so because we can’t find jobs and are drowning in debt. People don’t want jobs with more responsibility because they don’t actually entail more benefits anymore, since wages have been stagnating and even dropping since fucks like you were kids in the 70s and 80s.
What do you even mean by a promotion? A raise in pay? Maybe that’s because they want to keep up with inflation, something wages haven’t and won’t do so long as capitalism requires a race to the bottom in order to keep profits high.
Wall St is doing just fine while the rest of us suffer. Clearly your kids are just selfish dicks, and they’ll fix everything just like the baby boomers.

Baby Boomers (especially) and Gen-X-ers need to turn their fucking fingers right back at themselves for any “problems” the Millenial generation is facing.
And I’ll leave it at that because I don’t have time at the moment for another long rant against the Baby Boomer generation.

This article should be titled “Hey You Kids Get Off My Lawn” because that’s all I’m getting out of it.

I think “delusional” is probably better than “drowning in existensial despair over the fact that we are utterly screwed for the rest of our lives”.

Excuse me, I need to go delude myself into thinking that maybe if I apply to a couple hundred more jobs, I’ll get someone maybe interested. Just like I did last week.
